Do you trust God?

Updated: Sep 12

Honestly, this year (2025) has proven to be crazy and full of discouraging news bits. Nationally and globally, I have remotely witnessed injustices and inhumanity. Rascism is just another Tuesday in America. Violence and crime penetrate throughout society, homelands, and communities. Homelessness (metaphorically and literally) continues to be overlooked or unaddressed. ICE raids perpetuate fear and national division. Federal funding for DEI programs have been deemed inadequate and unnecessary by government officials. And, empathy is seemingly disappearing from our country and world…

What the hell do we (“the people”) even care about? I’ve seen a handful of think pieces on current events and social commentaries on society and life. And, one thing I’m left to think about (through the noise of all this) is “hope.” Where it the hope? What do people have to hope in? In cities, communities, states, and countries, what is comforting us through such a negative politically and socially charged time? My answer is God.

I believe I learned to stop trusting in the world and the people of it a long time ago. Both have proven to disappoint and discourage me. Now, that’s not to say that all people aren’t worthwhile and there is no one on earth who is honest or trustworthy. But, I do believe that humanity is destined to fail greatly before it is redeemed. I believe that people will intensely fall, stumble, mess up, and break their own legs before they ever learn how it is they should walk and where it is they should walk to.

We all make mistakes. Nobody is perfect: a fact and understood known of humanity. But, when do mistakes transcend beyond mere faux pas/ social blunders into a realm of evil? Where is the line of difference between evil and mistake? And when evil is present, how do we know it’s there?

I believe every human holds spiritual sensitivity: that each of us possess the ability to pray and to perceive beyond the natural eye/ realm.

Hope is continually dwindling within society. We’re at a point where we need to depend on something (or someone) greater than our own humanity. We “the people” need God. We “the people” need Jesus.

I’m a Christian…I know there are plenty of other religions or ideologies that either conflict or disagree with themes of the Bible. I know that not everyone desires to find hope in Jesus but I have.

I have found hope in God. I’ve found hope in the Gospel and my soul has been given peace amid every chaos on earth. I don’t like to see others suffering. I hate that there is so much injustice in our world, but truth prevails. And I believe the Bible is true! The Bible speaks of justice and portrays God as just. Those who put their faith in God are called to do “good” and “to do justice” (see Micah 6:8).

Even if there can be no hope found in this world or the powers of it, I believe all hope is found in God and eternal hope is found in Jesus.

In John 12:46, Jesus says, “I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.”
